Where online can I learn the basics about cameras?

Where's somewhere where I can learn the basics about how cameras work and basic camera lingo?

  • Just out of curiosity I would like to know more about how cameras work and what kind of vocabulary I need to know to know my way around a camera.

    1- Take a basic DSLR class. My city offer some basic courses through the libraries for next to nothing. 2- Read the fraking manual. It's all in there. 3- Buy some basic photography books. Scott Kelby's digital photography books are what I use in my classes. There are three books that build on each other and you can get the whole boxed set on Amazon for $38. He focuses a lot on the technical aspects of photography which is something that is missing from a lot of the books out there.

I just googled it. There are plenty of websites about photography where you can read about that stuff.

Dennis publishing have a series of "magbooks" that you can find at larger newsagents, with titles such as "Getting Started In Digital Photography", and the like. If you want to go onto Amazon or the like you can pick up books such as "The Book Of Digital Photography" by Chris George, or try a "workbook", maybe take a days training.
