A good camera for an amateur?

Good, yet affordable camera for an amateur photographer?

• This isn't something i want to do for a living but i'm really passionate about photography and have been meaning to go out and get a new camera .. just now i only have my phone camera and its only 8 megapixels :/ Anyone know of a decent priced (under £600) camera, that's also quite professional too? It needs to have good clarity, bring out vibrant colour and have a good focus.

  First of all, megapixels don't mean a damn thing so get that idea out of your head right away. Secondly, why does it need to be "quite professional"? Third, it's the photographer, not the camera, taking the photos, The camera is merely a tool so if you want good clarity, color, and focus it's going to have to come from you and your skills. I am not sure how much your total is in American dollars so short of telling you to try different brands by how they feel and are in your budget, I can't tell you much more. It comes down to how it works best for you, there is no "best camera". Some will argue Canon, others will say Nikon, others may say Olympus. It's what works best for them. I use a Canon Rebel XT and I'm thrilled with it. You may not be. You also have to factor in the cost of lenses which is not cheap. Get to the camera store and start hunting. Ask questions and look for something in your budget. Best of luck!
