How do i put a background on GIMP 2.6?

How do i put a picture in another picture?

  • I have a picture of myself and a picture of a nebula. I want to put the nebula in the picture of me but have it a little transparent so you can see the nebula and know its another picture but it'd look like its in the background with the original background. Also I want the nebula to be smoothly in contrast with my original background. How do I do this when using gimp?

  • Answer:

Open both images in edit window, drag and drop on to window , or open both from menu, you can copy and paste set together if separate, once you have both in layers, select the layer of nebula, and on the layer toolbox, lower the opacity % if you want only the background covering the room area, you can erase section over pose, if to want more effects with blend use the layer overlay modes under normal, if you want other effect you can use mask, or new layer with gradients to fade image and borders, Gimp ~image editor, http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html ..
