A good camera for an amateur?

Would the Kodak EasyShare 8.2MP Digital Camera - Z812 be a good digital camera for an amateur photographer?

People are recommending Kodak because of the outstanding German formula lens on the Z812. Impressive performance.

I don't really no why everyone is recommending Kodak EasyShare, since it is not known for its image quality, or overall ergonomics. Personally, I would suggest buying anything but the Kodak, GE, Polaroid, or HP. A better choice would be by something from Nikon, Canon, Sony, Pentax, or Fuji. I've heard good things about the Nikon S200 and the Canon S5 IS, though their might be some focusing problems with the Canon. Sony has some good cameras, Pentax has the Optio series, and Fuji has the Z10. I'm not sure about the image quality on the Fuji, but from their other lines, it will probably be very good. Hope this helps.

I have an easyshare 650. 6.1MP and 10x zoom. Really nice, sharp and clean pictures. For a starter, these are great cameras. It has a manual setting for apperture and shutter speed and such, so you can learn to mess with those before buying an slr.

SURE, THATS OK FOR AN AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER. Anything 6MP and up will do a great job, taking pretty good pictures with fine detail. Plus trust KODAK always!
