Jobs in Photography?
-
College is approaching at an alarming rate now, and I'm scrambling to try to please my parents and myself. My parents don't want me to be a starving artist, and want me to make a decent living, but I want to be a photographer so bad I can't see straight. Want kind of jobs could I get in photography? I'm not looking to be wealthy, but I mean a job that would keep me fed. I don't want to be on the street living in a cardboard box with my camera and the sewer rats. I shoot anything and everything, but my main passion is to photograph living things-- animals, people, etc. I plan on going to college, so what kind of jobs are out there? Can anyone list some?

Answer:
If you learn your craft and are willing to work for a living you will not starve. If you believe this is what you will do best in life, do it. As you progress through college those who know you and your work will better know which jobs are most suitable for you. Consider their opinions then ask yourself what you want to do and what you need to do to get there.

If you are brave. Get in the middle of a hurricane or near a tornado news agencies pays for those pictures and videos. Become a Freelancer. And, whoever gave me the negative I make more money than those who have their pictures on the front page of a magazine or newspaper. Since it is a "hazardeous" job. It is how majority of photographers get their break in Freelancing. Only 2 type of photographers gets "PAID". Those that go overseas and document war and those that go in the middle of storms. Storms are safer provided you know what you are doing. War anything can happen and die the next day.

hi al, have you ever thought about starting a blog? you're an eloquent writer and i'm sure a very inspiring photographer. the "blogosphere" could put you in touch with others who are interested in a similar pursuit. it'll be a great way to meet like-minded individuals, show off your skills, engage in the community, and find your way toward making photography a viable part of your life. stumbleupon ( http://www.stumbleupon.com/ )is a fantastic tool for discovering blogs (and other fascinating sites!). i hope you give it a go and see what blogging can do for you. stumbleupon is also a groovy way to explore net. i've found sites that i wouldn't even dream of searching in google. along with opening the net it could also take you to inspiring photography sites. i know you'll find a way to live photography. cheers, jacqueline
