How can you make a light graffiti video?

LIGHT GRAFFITI question!?

  • Does anyone know how to produce light graffiti using a video camera, not a photo camera? I am able to use a photo camera to do so, but I recently viewed the production of light graffiti using the phone 02. I have a sony handicam, and I would like to do a similar video. Photo by photo to make a movie is a very lengthy process. Help, please!

Well it would be eaiser to do it with a photo camera and not a video camera because you wouldnt be able to see the full image during the thing. The commercials that do that have really great special effects. The way you do it with a photo camera is you set up your camera on a tripod facing a background that is all black and will absorb light. Then you seal off the room to any out side light (HAS TO BE COMPLETELY SEALED). Then you start by getting everything ready (the person drawing your light source ect.) Then you shut the lights off open your shutter for a long time(like 15 to 30 secons with the apeture fully open) and start drawing. Then wait for the shutter to close and turn the lights on again. OH and make sure that there is nothing in the shot out side of the black backdrop. If you want to know more this is called a time exposure.

I have 2 different sony cams. One has a way for me to slow down the shutter speed. Try that-there is another setting you may have called "old movie" which also mimics slower shutter speeds. The sprint commercials probably use a fbf.
