I need a creative business name.

I need a cute creative name for my photography business?

  • I am starting a business and we are still in the creative stage...we need a name!! PLEASE HELP!! We will be taking pics of all things

  • Answer:

Double Take Photo "Your Name" Photography Snap Shots Studio One Click at a Time Photography EDIT: The "KK" is rude and harsh to most... don't pay attention. I know many photographers who don't specialize in only ONE thing and VERY successful... I too, went to her "website" and well I have to say I was not impressed AT ALL! She drilled me for my "weird angle shots" BUT she doesn't pay me, right? My clients LOVE their results and as long as they are pleased so am I and whatever she thinks means jack to me, LOL! She is ridiculus. She is on here answering away yet out of nearly 12,000 answers she has a 17% best chosen answer.... I wonder why? I know, she's rude, not constructive RUDE! There are ways to say things and share your feeling about something/someone, you don't know how. I REALLY hope you are coming back to read these!

The advice I've been given is to just use your name (Jane Smith Photography.) The reason for this is that because of the nature of the photography business in the age of facebook, you need your images to be easily traced back to you. If you become a pro, your images WILL get stolen and WILL show up on facebook, but if they've got your name on them, at least they can be traced back to you. If they're just marked as Cute Name Photography, then it's unclear who actually hit the shutter button and therefore owns the copyright. Unfortunately, 90% of running a photography business is about protecting your work and knowing your legal rights. Good luck with your new venture.

Without a specialty or two then you're already doomed to fail and you're even more doomed when you're not even creative enough to come up with your own name. Portraits, maternity/newborns, children, events, etc, nature, landscape, street photography, photojournalism, etc. Are these ALL your specialities? I doubt it. Nail it down to 2, maybe 3 areas of expertise and leave it at that. EDIT: That's what YOU think sweetie but YOU are not paying me so your opinion of my work doesn't mean jack to me. I work with a large circle of models and photographers and I've had nothing but positive reviews. You're just pissed I called you out on how uncreative you are for being unable to come up with your own business name. Defensive much?

You can't be all things to all people. Try to find something to focus on. Focusing on families will give you a chance to specialize in family, children, babies, maternity, pets even. But I think people would rather go to a specialist than a general practitioner. Once you decide where your focus lies, try your question again. :)

You do need to figure out what you are best at first. In the beginning stages, why not just use your name. That will give you time to figure out what you do best and then you can come up with a name. That would be the best. Take time to build your portfolio then start the business aspects of it. This is where I am now. Shooting for friends and family for free then starting the business.
