Is there any scientific truth about Kirlian photography?

What is the truth about Kirlian Photography?

  • Image search it, its totally fascinating. What kind of energy is this? Why is it similar to images of Saints and Buddhas? Read stories about this, its interesting. What do you think its function is? What is it?

  • Answer:

There is no "truth" about Kirlian Photography, it is what it is and it is what people want to - make - of it, and what they want to believe. . High energy discharge can excite the atoms of photo sensitive material causing a 'exposure' like environment to exist. This exposure often takes on the shape, somewhat, of the object placed on top of the sensitive material and is produced when a high voltage current is passed through it, then developed. . Even objects like gears, bricks, hammers, tools, etc can five off this 'aurora' for it is NOT confined to organic objects, like leaves, hands or such. Color and size can fluctuate with too many variables but the objects them selves, size, amount of current.. can vary the outcome. . It is very fascinating but was fully explored 30, 40 and more years ago and found out to be nothing more than a curious natural phenomena.. . I wouldn't go reading into it any more than what is there at face value.. .

Both UCLA and some Russian (Soviet at the time) scientists explored this type photography for many years. I am sure that UCLA library has boxes and boxes of papers on "Kirlian Effect" photography I found these links in less than 5 seconds. Try using Yahoo Search next time before you go to the next step. http://www.thesynergycompany.com/superfood_article10.html http://kirlianresearch.com/kirlian_principle.html And here http://www.theblackvault.com/wiki/index.php/Kirlian_photography http://cebunet.com/kirlian/chirokirlian.htm A lot of the material found on these sites are based upon promoting the sale of products, so will not have all the basic research listed or discussed. If I were interested, I would visit UCLA and spend some time researching Camera Guy has nailed it. I have heard of it but I am very skeptical of the theory that it captures some kind of supernatural human "aura." It captures "auras" around inanimate objects too. http://www.skepdic.com/kirlian.html
