Do you have old photos and negatives that are wasting away?

• I have a business which mostly designs websites for companies. I'm trying to decide if I want to spend a few hundred dollars and get a negative scanner to be able to offer a service to convert customers negatives to digital format. Does this sound like something you'd pay for? My messaging talks about losing precious family memories forever. Would you pay to have boxes of photos and negatives scanned and stored on DVD? How much would you pay? I'm thinking a dime a picture. Thanks!

  10¢ a scan... I can see you haven't done much homework or scanning. . I have been doing as you are suggesting since the late 80's. I can conceder myself a RKI on the subject. . RKI = Reasonable Knowledgeable Individual - and will make a few suggestions... . Don't skimp on the quality or durability of your scanner. Buy the best you can afford and one that can take large format film. Epson makes a V-500, V-700 and the V-750 and the 700 models have a 8x10 inch area that can do film, whole roll 35mm contact sheets, 4x5 film and 8x10 film. . They have a high native resolution, good D-Max as well and while I have gone through 2 of them, I will get a 3rd if this one poops out, unless Epson has something better then. . Because it is 2 scanners in one it actually saves you $$ by only having to buy 1 scanner for both flat work and film. If you think one of these $189.00 (or less) film scanners will cut it, you are going to have a rude awaking... . Research and homework. Spend time looking up OTHER local and on line business offering this and build some understanding of what you are wanting to do. It can turn around a bite you real easy. . How much a hour do you or will you work for..? 50 scans in a hour is only $5.00 an hour at 10¢ a scan..... and I really doubt you could do 50 good scans a hour.
