Why is the picture only in black and white?

Is it bad to have 1 senior picture in color and 1 in black and white?

• So my brother's senior picture was in color and it was kind of close up on his face, it showed his upper chest and up, so pretty close. I just got my senior picture today and the photographer took many different pictures, but one pose in color and one in black and white. My mom and I both liked the black and white one so we picked that. The picture shows me leaned up against a wall with my arms crossed. It shows about my belt-line and up, so not very close up. Well my dad was working so it was my mom's and I's decision of which picture to pick. My mom just claled my dad and told him what picture we picked. He got mad and said, "Oh ok! So we have one son in color and one in black and white..." He said it angrily of course. So now he is going to the place we took the pictures to change the one we chose... So now I have no idea what picture is going in the year book... But really, does it really matter that much? Does it really matter if one picture is in color and one is in black and white? The black and white one looked better which is why we chose it, the colored one had kind of an ugly turquoise wall behind it.

  Can't the photographer provide the black and white to the yearbook and let your family purchase the color one?
