Is there a free software for enhancing digitial portraits?

I have looked at Portrait Professional, brilliant, but I can't save images once enhanced unless I buy software.
Answer:

I don't know of any free software that does as good a job as "Portrait Professional" I've never tried this but could you run the demo version then capture the screen image to the windows clipboard with printscreen then past it into another application?
