This question gets asked a lot, but I don't mind repeating the answer because I realize it is very difficult to find a tutorial when you don't know the correct search term to use for this. The technique you need to learn for this is called "clipping mask". You need a decent image editor for it such as Photoshop, Elements or Gimp.
