Are there any online photo contests that dont want money to enter?

I am a disabled single mother of a beautiful miracle baby I love to take pictures and like sharing them with other photographers I think I am a good amatuer photographer but every online picture contest advertises its free then when you upload the pic they want money why do they say it's free when its not? I will accept any help to answer tnis question. Thank you all & God bless
