Why is that my film came out of focus?

I made a film in super 8 and the people in front of the camera are out of focus even-tough in the viewfinder they looked in focus. Someone told me about the macro thing but I didn't understand him. Could you please help?

Answer:
It switches to macro if you zoom back, past the widest angle. In which case everything would be out of focus. If you zoom in as far as you can, then check your focus. The extreme telephoto end is the most critical. You can then zoom back & frame your shot. I see the camera has two shutter speeds. If you are on the faster speed, the aperture will be open wider & your depth of field will be reduced.
