Where may I find free images online for use in photoshop?

Where can I find images that I can use on the blog?

  • I have a client who writes about latest fashion and unfortunately I am not able to find Royalty Free images for the blogs for the client as the events are fairly recent and they don't really have been added to Royalty Free image sites. The sites where they are available charge a ton of money and I cannot afford that. The questions I have are (1) Can I use these images from news sites if I provide proper credit to them? (2) Can I use images from peoples twitter profiles if I provide credit to them? (3) Is there a guide I can use to understand/determine which photos/videos can be used from the internet and which cannot be used? Thanks so much for your help.

    Copyrighted material is never free to use unless you get permission (or a license) Check out creative commons licensed works, here's an overview of the subtypes of that: http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

You cannot use copyrighted images on any website, unless they're shots you've taken yourself. It doesn't matter whether or not you can afford to pay for a license to use them or not. If it states that all rights are reserved, that means you have to obtain permission to use them. And, more often than not, it means you have to pay a license fee to use them. For those of you out there using images that aren't your own, you risk legal action if you use copyrighted material that doesn't belong to you.
