Any other websites besides Photobucket?

Are there any photo-sharing websites where I can store my old photos? Photobucket is deleting my pics. Help?

  • I've been using photobucket for so long, I have no idea when I started using it to store my old photos. It's set to private so it shouldn't be visible to anyone but me and the photobucket staff. I don't understand why my pictures are being deleted but they are. I have old family photos in there and things that I don't want to lose so I'm looking for another photo site to store all of those on because there are far too many to store on my computer. Can you guys suggest anything?

  • Answer:

If you want to store pictures which have value, either monetary or sentimental, then you should NEVER rely on on-line storage. Go and buy an external hard drive or two and store them on there.

I wouldn't trust storing any of my images on an online storage site. I suggest you buy an external hard drive & store them on there.

The only truly secure remote storage services cost money. For example a free flickr account will store the images in a reduced resolution JPEG form, and only for 200 pages. Even a flickr pro account doesn't store in uncompressed formats. If you want remote storage, you'll should really be looking at remote servers/remote backup solutions. Which are really rather expensive for what they are. It's much simpler to just expand your hard drive capacity via external drives.

You can use Adrive, which gives you 50GB of free storage: http://www.adrive.com/

Have you tried contacting Photo Bucket? What do they say? Do they not respond to a support email from you? It's going to be work to transfer your photos from PB, so even if you have to subscribe (pay $) to PB that might be worth it. But a great photo service is KeepandShare. You'll need to download your photos from PB to your computer harddrive first. Then it's easy to upload them into KeepandShare. Once they are on your hard drive, be sure to make your own backup copy (get a cheap external USB drive and copy them onto that). Hope this helps...

Picasa on line and a free download to help you organize your images on your pc. I use it as it's only 2 clicks to upload them all to each album i can make them public with out even clicking on my firefox. it's a part of the google thing. so not sure how you feel about that but i even pay them 20 bucks and I have yet to fill it up.

Don't trust flickr. I've never had any issue but my bro had 2,000 of his 7,000 photos DELETED from his pro account. They did not respond when contacted about it. Store it on a local drive
