Try the Everyman Photo Contest. The prizes aren't real big ($50 for 1st prize) but it's better than nothing, right?

There are tons of them online and free but be careful because you'll get e-mail asking you to give permission and $ to let them put your image in a book. if anyone want's to publish your images they should pay YOU not the other way around. Enter as many as you can find and there are also a lot of groups on Yahoo and such that allow you to post your images and get feedback. Good luck!

betterphoto.com You get a free gallery where you can upload 30 pictures for display and you can submit a picture once a day for the monthly contest. You can do the theme contest or the general contest or a combination of the 2

www.worth1000.com is a great contest site. They have several ongoing contests at a time. Your photos are voted on by your peers through an extremely fair voting system. They also have contests for photoshop, writing, and illustrations. Worth also has a forum where you can talk about the latest subjects in photography and even get feedback on your photos.

Go online and check out Photography group that fit your specs and intrest...Most will have photo contest to enter and you can learn much from the other as well. You will also find some wonderful group that have from beginners to professional and those are the ones that you will learn the most from. Some are film photographer and some are digital and some are both. Enjoy your search and don't be shy with the groups, they are a great learning tool.

you can sign up for the newsletter at Absolute Arts (www.absolutearts.com) and get their calls for artists lists. You can also post 4 of your images and an artist statment for free. Whoo-hoo! Also, there is Art Deadlines newsletter. Do a search on "calls for artists" "art competitions" and check the artist section for your area on www.craigslist.org

photography magazine has a good contest. and photo.com but don't get sucked into buying anything from there they won't send it.
