Does anyone know what technique is used in the new Eminem video 'You Dont Know'?

I have seen this technique used quite alot lately where the background looks as though it has been composited in post (possibly green screen) alongside really powerful halogen kicker lights from a far distance and the foreground elements are darkly lit for contrast to leave a glow around the actors. Its also in the new La Parkour film called The Great Challenge. Amazing Technique but I would love to know how it is actually done if anyone knows the answer. Cheers.
