How do i save my image after using LAB color mode?

i have been playing around in photoshop and i really like using LAB color mode...but when i try to save it after that it won't let me save it as a jpg...so then when i change the mode from LAB back to rgb it will let me save but my image doesn't look the same when i open the image in another application...does anyone have an answer...this is killing me! thanks

Hopefully you are saving any manipulated files as different names so you did not overwrite your originals. Second, it is rare that a photographer ever has to save a final file as anything but a high resolution JPEG or TIFF for use by a lab to make prints, post on the internet after resizing or sent to a publisher for printing using an offset press. Is using LAB just something cool to do or are you using it for a specific reason?
