How to take vintage looking photos?

What should I focus on when trying to take professional looking photos??

  • Whenever I take a photo, it usually looks so .. random, like I accidentally took the photo. I never know what to focus on, how to figure out the composition, there is always too much going on, or it is too boring, I never get it right. I want to take photos of buildings, ruins, etc (not people) for an article. but the ones I take aren';t dramatic enough. How do I get a good photo shot, what should I look for, and any tips?

  • Answer:

When you look through the optical viewfinder (or the LCD screen)--imagine looking at a framed photo. Don't randomly take a photo as if you were blind. These are good tips from Kodak. http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=317/10032&pq-locale=en_US A photography class would also be useful, too.
