What is digital media arts?

What is "Time-Based Media" or "Digital-Time Arts"?

  • I'm applying to the University of Texas at Austin, and I was wondering if the items I specified are images created on PhotoShop? On the college site, they don't really specify what they are, and I am confused. Please answer ASAP; this could make or break my portfolio. Here is the direct portfolio submission instruction: "Part D: Lens- and Time-based Media. Four to six images or videos. To be selected from: photographs (black/white or color, wet or digital processes), video art (motion or stills), digital-time arts, or documentation of performance art pieces. Hint: Even if you have not had formal training in photography, you can submit lens-based work. You can use any image-capturing device (35mm, digital, cell phone, toy camera, Polaroid, video, etc.). Give consideration to: subject matter (what are you looking at), composition (how are you looking at it), and framing (what is your point of view)." And yes, I've tried looking it up; Google yields no results and the Internet in general is failing me. Thanks much in advance.

  • Answer:

Part D sounds as if they do not want PhotoShop work since they are definitely selection camera work. My niece took a b/w of a while lily on black background; it was a displayed item at her school. Good luck. Pursue your dreams and never stop.
