What paint is best for wall murals?

If I were to paint wall murals of Disney or Marvel characters for money, would I need their permission first?

I know you cant do that for Disney, but I had a conversation with a guy who sold comic stuff not long ago. I think he said even though Disney owns Marvel, Marvel wanted to let other people still copy their stuff. Chances are Marvel made a statement themselves about this.
