I have a giant canvas I used oil pastels and chalk on, can I paint over it with acrylic paint?

I have this huge canvas and I hate what I made with it, can I go over oil pastels and some chalk with acrylic paints or will that ruin it? will the paint even stick to the oil pastels? I dont wanna ruin the canvas as it is, but if I can make something better out of it i would like to

Answer:
I would spray over it with a permanent clear matte varnish a few times, try Grumbacher, a few horizontal sprays a few vertical about 8-12 inches away. Why not test it first on a scrap of canvas using your pastels and chalk and let it dry and then see if the seal worked
