Painting; God is on a chariot (Renaissance period) whats the name of it?

  • In this painting, god riding a chariot and people are being crushed under it, signifying that all are equal after death. I dont know the name of it, but I would really like to. I believe its from the renaissance period, and it possibly comes from Italy.

Can't remember name etc, but remember painting. It's a wonderful encapsulation of both the ruthlessness of God as shown in the Old Testament, and an echo of the more ancient Sungod (of various names) depicted as riding across heaven in his golden chariot - for whom there was of course an equivalent female godess associated with the moon who was abandoned by Judeo-Christian religions as they were into paternalistic domination. (She was retained in a way in the promotion of Mary - gods and godesses never die!) The chariot image for power by the way got a boost from the Hittites (who made iron first in the Middle East, made chariots of it, and used them to chase the children of Israel), and the Babylonians. Now we use tanks and aeroplanes. So what's new?
