Can someone help me out with my personal statement for job?

23 years old, no job, no major education and I need help from someone please?

  • Hi, my name is Robert. I am 23 years old and still living at home because I don't currently have a job. I am also a college drop out. For now, I am only doing an online course for computer repair. Well, because computers are my forte to be honest(as well as painting). I want to advance in that area. The real reason I made this question is because I am scared for my life right now. The only real skills I have obtained in the past 5 years are in art. Specifically digital painting. With Photoshop elements and Gimp 2. Whenever I show my artwork to people online or in the real world I cannot get that person to take a comission for the sake of survival in this world. I know you might be saying "If you live at home you should be fine." Even though that might be somewhat true, at the same time it's not. My mother has a very limited income which I'm not sure of. We hardly talk anymore since her boyfriend moved in. Whom I hate by the way. He stays here all day doing nothing but online poker and chatting on his cellphone which my mom pays for. I'm not trying to say I'm better than him but hes taken my territory I call "home". I VERY MUCH HATE HIM FOR THAT. It would be great if for once in this life time, that I could just get a break and get paid for painting after all I've been through. I ran away from my dads house when I was 15. Tried to join the army when I was 17-18 and failed. After that I've been bearly surviving. I know you guys will say just go out and get a job. Believe me I have tried over and over. filling out 10 apps a day for 6 months every other week then just gave up on it. It's been 3 months since the last time I tried for any job cause I already know I'm not going to get it because of no work experience except for Taco bell for 2 months out of my entire 23 years of exsistance...I know sad... I cannot do this anymore though I need someone who will do a deal with me with art. The area I am truely skilled in. I'm sorry if I bore you with my story but I really just need a break from this broken home scene I've been in the last 5 or 6 years. Ive tried to get a pack of friends together to motivate me and build a website for my art and sell stuff at a flea market but the motivation dies after they forget about it. Cause they don't take it serious enough. I need someone online to really help me be fruitfull at this stuff. Even if it's just to get me noticed somewhere, I'll take it. I need some help. I'm scared for my life! Please someone help me with my skills. Someone who knows where to put my paintings. I have some of my stuff on deviant art and youtube already. My user name is kasumisman on both sites.

No job No car No education No girlfriend No money No d1ck 1) GET BACK TO SCHOOL (Community College) ASAP 2) Volunteer 3) apply for any job part-time 4) apply for FAFSA 5) or join the national guard (recommended) 6) Drop the online-school; it's garbage. btw you can't become a doctor or get any decent job with online school background; it's no substitute for the real thing. avoid profit-schools 7) after 1-6 is done, you need a hobby: drop video games and learn judo or music. watch gran torino if you feel discouraged

Looks like you could do pretty well as an illustrator for books, magazines, etc. Your strength is definitely in illustration. These are really nice. Why don't you go to college and do art.

If art is something you're truly passionate about you've got to put yourself out there. You can't sit at home and expect opportunities to come to you. Get together a portfolio of your favourite stuff and perhaps draft up a few different ideas you'd like to develop. Then go out and find the art community in your area, a gallery or even just an interest group, you'll be amazed how much of a difference it will make to your motivation and progress by surrounding yourself with a group of like-minded people and people you aspire to be like. You'd be much better off finding a real-life mentor than someone on the internet. If it's what you want, do everything you can to make it happen. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there, you'll never get anywhere if you don't try things differently. Best of luck! :)

pretty good stuff. i can picture your work on books, magazines, brochures, etc. not sure if school is a good idea right now. they wont really teach you anything you probably dont already know in regard to your art. its only good for the degree for jobs that require it. you may just wind up in debt for school loans, and still no job prospects. unless you want to expand in get into graphic designing. but again, jobs are scarce, and a lot of times degree isnt needed especially if you freelance. at this point you shouldnt worry about selling your art or landing a gig. your main goal should be networking and getting your name out there. join graphic design communities and connect with people; hopefully someone can use your services eventually. go to the library and look at all the magazines and think of redoing a few covers with your painting and send it in to the art director or something. maybe one direct copy to show your paint skills, and one with a different interpretation to showcase your imagination. hopefully either they could use you later on, even if not for covers, for articles inside. or maybe they could connect you with others. maybe even offer them your service for free just to get your foot in the door and beef up your resume of having worked for a big name. yes, working for free sucks but what else are you gonna do right now? also, your previous works were basically "free" as you didnt get paid to do them anyway.
