What is the name of this painting/photo or Who is the Artist?

I'm looking for the name of an artist. I really hope someone can help out!?

  • OK so I'm desperately looking for the name of an artist or painting(s). There are two pictures (possibly more) of the same theme by the same artist. The scene of the painting is in black and white, with a girl in a red coat standing in the forefront (but not the main focus). In one of the paintings the girl is at the bottom of a flight of stairs in what looks like it could be Edinburgh. In the other painting she is standing on a beach. In both paintings (actually they look more like 'sketches') she is looking upon the scene and just the back of her is seen. I saw these images on a TV screen on a Glasgow bus- I believe these images are shown very often on these buses so I'm sure some of you will know what I'm talking about! I get the feeling that the artist is Scottish as I think it was an advertisement for a Scottish Art Gallery although I can't be sure. If anybody out there knows what I am talking about and can name the artist then that would be very, very appreciated. I know it's a long-shot but I live in hope. Thanks so much for reading my rambled description!

    Could it have been Jack Vetttriano? He's Scottish and although more famous for his butler on the beach sort of pictures I know he has some works which are black and white with just a touch of colour. Google him and see.

This is a real long shot but if you can't get the answer here you could consider contacting the company, purpledogtv, that runs the TV screen advertising on the Glasgow buses and asking them.

Back to the drawing board

Contact the advertising department at the transport office, they should be able to tell you.
