ACRYLIC PAINT V POSTER PAINT, whats the difference?

poster paint is more like tempera, it can crack, acrylic paint is more of an all purpose paint used in many applications especially scenery and portraits.

Water color paints have a finer pigment than poster (the pigment, or grain, of which is quite coarse). Gouache paints are used mainly by designers - they are finer pigmented than poster but coarser than water colors. Acrylics are basically a plastics-based medium.All the other media are natural (to some extent). On all tubes (etc) you will see a four or five star permanency rating. this relates to the time the dry paint will last over the years/decades/millenia but can also be viewed as an indication of how the paint will cover what's underneath. Black paint usually has a 5-star rating as it covers just about any color beneath it. Pale tones may show the color below it requiring many layers for it to become completely opaque. Because of the quick drying time of acrylics, blending one tone into another may be difficult. Oils give you the time to blend colors/tones/etc almost indefinitely. With poster paint, water color and guache you can re-damp the surface and re-work it (to some extent) but with oils and acrylics you can not.

Poster paint is a low-budget tempera paint that is nowhere near the quality of paint you would want to paint with if you want your work to last. Of course there are many levels of acrylic paint too but generally a good acrylic paint will handle better have better color and will be more durable.

Well, poster paint, is really water based, so the paint doesn't have any thickness, or intensity of colour and might not be best to paint a scenery because it can get too watery and can drip and also not look shiny or glossy (which acrylic paints have, so the look and quality of the painting is affected). Whereas, acrylic paints are slightly less water based, thick in texture and also very deep and rich in colour and also give a very nice sheen or gloss, from the paint when it has dried. So depending on what you want for a scenery or floral picture, for alot of detail and stuff I think water colours or acrylic would be best, mainly because I think that acrylic is easy to work with, not soo watery . And also if you want a delicate look to your pictures then, water colours would be best.
