What is the most popular art movement now?

    There is a resurgence of interest in Classical Realism and Academic Art. Paintings of still lifes, portraits, figures, interiors, and landscapes using classical drawing and painting techniques. I believe this movement towards appreciating classical art is a reaction to extreme modern art, which has no standards by which to judge its quality. To become masters of classical techniques, artists train in Ateliers for 3 years or more. Ateliers are art schools located within a working master artist's studio. In the vangaurd of contemporary classical realism are young prominent artists such as Dana Levin and Peter Van Dyk.

Maybe we should ask what kind of art do we really want now and do it.That's what I have always done.Look for new styles.They're out there.Is there necessarily a new "movement" associated with them not so far as I know.They are mostly new personal styles and some are different enough(and good enough)to assume that they will have their place in history and some may acquire the status of movement .Who knows?Personally I'm not sorry about the demise of post modernism .

Outsider art is huge with dealers and collectors, especially in new york. I think it is receiving real attention for the first time in Art History.

We don't have a name for it yet because it's.... well, NOW. Some say post-modernism died in 2001, though, and that's pretty recent. It is mostly just referred to as "contemporary."
