What is a quality art store?

Is this a quality paint brush set?

  • Okay, so I have some really great paint brushes from Princeton Art that I got from my local art store. they don't shed at all and I love them. I needed a fan brush so I search the web and came across this complete set: http://www.amazon.com/Paint-Acrylic-Paints-Brushes-Wood/dp/B0007D63NI/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Unfortunately, the reviews really don't say much about the quality of the brushes. If the brushes are good, this would be a great deal! so my question is: are brushes from "The Royal Langnickel Company" good? Are the brushes in this specific set good? **namely, do they shed? leave strove marks? Help me out Art community! :D thanks so much.

    I wouldn't call them 'good'. They would be 'fair' at best. Sets like this are usually cheaply made. You're better off purchasing the best brushes you can afford. If you can only buy one at a time, better that than to spend good money on poor brushes. Edit: Just FYI, I have spent $30 on a single watercolor brush and that is not the best quality there is. Kolinsky sable brushes are the finest brushes made.

Those brushes are fair. I generally don't like "sets" because the quality of all the pieces isn't very good to keep the price down. I think you would be better off buying just the brush. You may not use all the paint colors and you can't see the brushes. $30 would buy some nice brushes.
