How much is shipping on skullcandy.com?

Shipping paintings prices?

  • I am just curious how it all works when it comes to shipping a painting. I ask this because I would like to price my paintings to include my asking price as well as the shipping price all in one price. I am going to be listing shipping as "Free" for USA/ Canada and just include a general avg. in my asking price of what shipping would be. I think this might help to attract buyers. But back on topic. I am unsure what the best way to ship a painting would be and what the genral pricing system is per size and destination. I understand pricing will change based on size, destination and company that I go with but i am just looking for a reliable source to give me an avg. per size and destination. I would like to ship everything insured as well as packed gently in box with bubble wrap. I have looked into some pricing on a site I found called http://www.freightcenter.com/ and the pricing seems to be a little bit higher than I would have guessed, but ive never done this before so i have no way of truly knowing. Here are some examples that I picked up from the site First ill use an avg sized canvas that I use most. 30X40 in. [1 in. thick] - 4lbs- Their price> Boxed- From Columbus OH-43232 / TO Boulder CO-80304 - RESIDENTIAL DELIVERY- $300+ Does this seem correct? I am just trying to make sure that I can come to a general shipping avg. that I would be willing to pay throughout the USA and Canada. Say I have a painting that I want to make $500 off of and I want to include shipping in my asking price It would then become an $800-900 painting that is garunteed free shipping/ will be insured anywhere in the USA/ Canada At least thats what the pricing would be if this site is giving me correct information and this is the best way to do this. Another example from that site I have is the following 15X20 in. [.2 in. thickness] - 1 lb- Their price> Boxed- From Columbus OH-43232 / TO Boulder CO-80304 - RESIDENTIAL DELIVERY- $300+ This is another thing that kinda doesnt make sense about the site. The shipping fees are basically the exact same yet the painting is smaller. This painting im speaking about im only asking $200 for So the shipping would make up mre of the asking price than what my original asking price/ profit is.... What are your guys thoughts on this and is there an easier/ more cst efficient way of doing this? Thanks

You need to check with your postal service but that $300 quote is way too high. I have shipped that size painting from Canada to California for under $80. with no problems at all. I also have shipped 20" X 18" canvasses framed for about $25-$30. within Canada.
