How do you draw and paint on sketchbooks?

  • Hi, I'm an italian student and I've seen how in England teachers make you use sketchbooks as tools for ideas, homework etc. I was wondering... how do you paint on them? The paint ruins the paper, doesnt it? Also I've seen you use every part of the paper, I mean front and back, but if you paint then the paper gets really shitty doesnt it? XD

    Usually sketching in one book and removing a sheet if painting but more as practice. There is more of a sketching tablet too vs. say more of a water color tablet for painting.

You can buy different types of sketchbooks, for instance a painting one would be a sketchbook with really dense paper so the paint doesn't ruin the paper and can easily pain on both sides Check out Pink Pig, I always get my sketchbooks from them: http://www.tummybox.com/

Where i go to school... we have separate art books for painting in and any art homework consists of mere sketches with no real colour necessary... its usually homework about shading. And the paper in the art books is high quality so it doesn't run :)
