Entering a painting done on photoshop in an art contest?

I am more of a traditional artist, I work really well with Prismacolor colored pencils but recently I started a really good painting on Photoshop. It's a self portrait and the painting looks as if I actually painted it traditionally, the portrait is going to be altered from the original photograph (that I took) because I wanted to add some of my creative touch. The problem is that I feel really guilty because I'm so used to traditional art that it feels like I'm cheating. I want to enter this piece in an art contest but I'm not sure how the judges would react. The ruels and guidelines say that any media is allowed but I'm just nervous they would think less of the artwork because it was done digitally. I have a back up prismacolor piece that I am enter in as well, but I would really love to give the painting a shot at the contest. So, the question is do you think that painting on Photoshop is basically cheating, and if not then do you think there's a certain method of painting on Photoshop that would be considered cheating? in my opinion, if you took a photograph and altered it then its photomanipulation, not painting. now, if you used the picture as reference then that is another thing and there is nothing to worry about, digital programs are just another media like watercolor, chalk or colored pencils. as for the contest, do the best you can and give your 100%. make sure you enjoy it :) good luck
