Know of any modern artists that recreate or use prehistoric or ancient art as inspiration?

• Prehistoric art...Ancient art influence on an artist today? I have to do a presentation for my art history class on an artist of today that is influenced by either prehistoric art, ancient egyptian art, ancient roman art or ancient greek art. The artist can be influenced by an art movement during that time, a specific artist or a certain piece. I've been searching the net but I can't seem to come up with anything. Can anyone help me? I just need a name of the artist...or if you can refer me to a website that would be smashing. Thank you kindly.

  Well, here's Giorgio de Chirico's famous "Song of Love," which uses an ancient sculpture. And then there's Danielle Desplans, a French print artist whose work I have bought, who is often inspired by ancient and medieval frescoes and other artworks of the past. See below. I should point out that western art was, for centuries, very, very heavily influenced by Greek and Roman classical art, from the 15th to the early 20th centuries, and even in the works of modern artists whose classical antecedents aren't always obvious. Take a look at the Post-Impressionists and Salvador Dali, for example, and also the sculptor Rodin. If you know classical art, you will recognize the relationships.
