What paint to use when painting an acoustic guitar?

  • I'm looking for a type of paint I should use in painting an acoustic guitar that I still plan on using. There are some chips towards the bottom of the body that I'd like to repair, and also I wouldn't mind painting some sort of design around the bottom of the guitar. Thanks!

With an acoustic, that is even more so than with an electric guitar. It may be cheaper and easier to fix the chips than to refinish the entire guitar In general, automotive paints were used on guitars (at least electric guitars). Lacquer produces a good tone.
