What do you do when you have artist block?

Do you ever have an 'artist's block' and what do you do about it?

  • I mean like a 'writer's block'.... when one completely runs out of inspiration.

  • Answer:

    I usually look to nature for inspiration. Go to a lake, park, go up the mountain, a hill, somewhere serene. You'll always be inspired even from feeling the fresh air and breeze. Especially when you're an art person. There's so much beauty you can see and draw/paint. Or you can read "Walden" by Henry David Thoreau.

Ive got this painting of Muddy Waters just cant get finished. Take it out stare at it, put it away when anyone comes over. Driving me crazy. Thought about starting over 1001 times. Maybe i will finish it tomorrow. P.S. Bubblewrap is a good cure for pretty much everything.

All the time. When I was sketching, I'd just go downtown to the lake or somewhere I hadn't been in a while and just sketch what was there. Now that I do photography I look to http://www.worth1000.com for their photography contests. That helps me focus, even if it's not my idea I can find the shot I want.

i either put my fave cd on, or I go on the internet and I open Yahoo music put my fave song on and then I surf the net or I play video games.

As a graphic artist and short story writer, I seem to fall into the "getting-out" of the place I am in and go some where that clears my head from stress and frustrations.
