Artists: how long did it take you to become a good artist?

  • iim doing an drawing art project and im trying to draw bambi. for me its so hard , i want to be a better drawer but its sooo hard!! but anyways. how long did it take you to become a good artist? were you born with it or did it take you forever?

    i dont draw anything realistic or backgrounds or settings or anything, but i am extremely good at drawing japanese manga. I started when i was around 6. You dont need to be born with it, all it takes is some practice.

I don't understand what you mean by "good" artist. I believe everyone has a different style they learn from. I am 15 doing full realism portraits of people without an art class so i guess i was born with it but every ones an artist. if you can write your name you can draw. just keep practicing and you will perfect you =]

I started drawing when I was around five, and although I have come a long way, I'm still nowhere near my goals. I think if you work hard at it, you could make some serious improvement over a few month period.

My brother is very good at drawing art but he didn't start drawing until he got to the age of 18 and he's been drawing ever since.
