So im having some trouble, i don't know where to start cause all i wanna do is perfect my skills and get better. I really wanna make progress.so im ok on the faces, so now im on the bodies. My art teacher says i should use body proportions (tell me if you approve of this method or if you have any other methods. So i just bough manga mania as a guide and its pretty good. But i don't know if i start with something too hard if i will make progress at all. Please give me some recommendations and ideas, i really wanna become an artist. Thank you

Although everyone thinks that "real art" (as in the traditional aspects/studies) and anime are completely different, much of what the anime style is based on still involves some aspect of the classical idea of "art". The proportion idea would probably be acceptable as it would allow you some amount of consistency and there are illustration concepts that may help with the quality of your actual drawings. Start with more basic elements and then work to grow/advance from there-- there are foundational aspects that if mastered, will ease some of the other elements found in this style If you're drawing it to draw it, and not expecting to make 'big bucks', then take your time to work on your story and characters and work to draw consistent characters and produce quality images. If it takes off? great- congrats! but if it doesn't, it really only matters that you're okay with the work you're producing. I would agree that anime is a bit of a flooded market, so I wouldn't expect anything right away, but it doesn't hurt to try at least. Be patient, take your time, and keep working at it- you'll improve as you continue. The only word of caution I will through out is that there will be more traditional artists who may put down the style/your work. I have a more traditional foundation in the arts, but I can respect the illustrative qualities and skills needed for that style. Unfortunately, not everyone will be open minded... if people put it down, take it as a grain of salt. Criticism, regardless of your medium or style, is something universal in the world of the arts. Best of luck to you-

Most teens these days love Anime. Just love it to the max. But where the big bucks come in play is no where near anime. But I would say Just do the anime and see where you can go form there. Anime is a inspirational based art. You'll do something one day you would totally want to change. My art teacher tells it hard. He hates, dragons, fairies, unicorns, mystic creatures, anime. Reason? Everyone does it! lol He likes our art to be Art, Not drawings. Try more of abstract arts.

Start with the story and then develop your characters. The most sublime drawings will not work if there is no story behind them. If you want to keep your characters consistent you are going to have to use some method to keep the proportions accurate, quite how you choose to do that is another matter. Start with simple short stories and work your way up.
