How To Learn Photoshop?

How do I Learn Photoshop?

  • Hey guys! I don't really know much of Photoshop. So essentially, i'll need to start with basics.. Can anyone suggest me a really nice book (as in, a guide) to learn it? How long would it take to get to know all the tools and start working on digital photographs?

  • Answer:

There are three methods which people use: 1. Pay to go on a course. Expensive but thorough. 2. Buy a book/get free tutorials online. Cheaper but you may not understand it all 3. Learn yourself through messing about. You may get into bad habits but you will know how it wall works and what it all does and you'll remember better I always gor for option 3

There are many books out there. I'd suggest one or more of the following: Photoshop [version number] Visual Quickstart Guide (I like these books a lot, more than the For Dummies series) Adobe Photoshop [version number] Classroom in a Book. Photoshop [version number] One-on-One by Deke McClelland. Deke is something of a character, so if you like quirky humor, you will enjoy his books. He's also got some podcasts available. Check iTunes for more Photoshop related video podcasts you might find useful. They are free. I personally really like Pixel Perfect from Bert Monroy, who is a real Master Photoshop artist. There are of course lots of free tutorials on the web, but you do have the right idea to learn the basics first. And having a book means you can use it any time you want, rather than having to go on line. It shouldn't take too long to learn the basics. Just remember that trying things out, experimenting, is a good way to learn things in Photoshop. There is so much there—you may discover things on your own and different ways to do things too (there is often more than one way to do something in Photoshop). However, make sure you always do one thing when you are working with photos or any other image: open your file and immediately do a Save As, rename it and save as a Photoshop file. This way you are (1) always working on a COPY, so if you mess up you still have your original file and (2) by changing to a native Photoshop file, you will have access to all the tools, filters, effects and so on, and can work in layers (a very important part of Photoshop). Most images are JPEGs (.jpg) and they do not support layers. Good luck and have fun!

Adobe makes some easy to learn books with their own disk you download. Each chapter in the book has it's own file to work off of from the disk. It's really easy and fun to learn.

Oh there are so many good books in market. Don't waste time in those fake websites. Just go to market & search your need.
