What are some really good drawing programs?

What drawing programs allow you to input measurements in order to get a specific shape/diagram?

  • I need to draw cross-sections of bone into my computer. It has to be a program that allows me to draw by hand since the outer contour of bone is very irregular. However, I need the inner contour of the bone to be in the shape of an ellipse. I've tried drawing the inner ellipse by hand but it's not perfect and I want to minimize inaccuracy as much as possible. I need a program where I can enter in measurements and have it draw the ellipse for me. Or even if it can just make a line to a specific length I should be able to manage drawing by hand that way. Does anyone know of any drawing programs that have this function?

Forgo all the artist programs and find yourself a decent cad/cam program. They are used more by engineers and architects to do exactly what you are describing. You can use illustrator with a drawing tablet and that'll get you results too. But the program is very expensive.
