How Can You Get On Tumblr At School?

Can I get into RISD/ Rhode Island School of Design without taking art classes in high school?

• I really wanted to take art this year in high school, but I had to drop it because I didn't have room and my mom would rather me do orchestra and for me to do art next year. I'm really worried that if I don't take the art class, then I won't catch up in 3 years of art to those who took all 4 years of art. I'm a freshman by the way. I really love art and I have 2 hour out-of-school art classes on Sundays, but that's not much compared to taking art every school day and I don't get much attention in it. I've always wanted to become an artist or have a career that involved art and I'm hoping to be able to attend RISD like some of my classmates from my out-of-school art classes. How would not taking art for freshman year influence my chances of making it in RISD?   I have close associations with a top-notch art school (top five in the world) and I have to tell you that your chances will be very grim indeed without art classes before your sophomore year. Most of these schools are seeking entry inquiries from freshmen and sophomores now, Juniors are almost cut out unless they have an outstanding portfolio or connections. If you cannot take the classes in school, seek out an art club with good credentials or some other extra curricular source for instruction. Build a solid portfolio based on the requirements of the school you are seeking to attend! It is a shame that your mother has cut you out of the loop so early. You will be far more able to find a lucrative career in art than in orchestra.
