What are the computer tablets that Graphic Designers use?

  • I understand that the Cintiq, Intuos, and Bamboo are popular choices among Multi Media experts and Graphic Designers. What do you guys think, prefer? I am concerned about price and quality, obviously. Which is best and what are the pros and cons of each tablet. Thanks?

    Wacom is the industry standard. These days I use a Cintiq, but I have owned the Intuos4 and Bamboo also. Bamboo Biggest Pro: Price, mobility Biggest Con: Small size, lower pressure sensitivity levels than higher grade models Intuos4 Biggest Pro: Multiple sizes S/M/L/XL, high number pressure sensitivity levels Biggest Con: Larger models take up a lot of desk space and aren't easily portable Cinitq Biggest Pro: Draw on screen LCD display, can be positioned as an upright/dual monitor Biggest Con: Price ranges from $1000-$2000 Obviously I prefer the Cintiq, but I'm a professional. I wouldn't recommend the average person to purchase a serious piece of equipment like the Cintiq as a first tablet. I would recommend you get either the Bamboo Fun or Intous4 S-M as a starter tablet.

Wacom tablets are pretty much the top standard in the industry. The Bamboo is the low-end tablet, good for beginners who don't want to spend a lot of money, but they are limited in what they can do. The Cintiq is the top tablet; it is essentially an LCD monitor that you draw on directly, rather than a tablet that requires you to be looking at your computer screen while you draw on the tablet. The Intuos are the intermediate level, and there are several sizes available. There are competing products, but I would search for reviews. I think you'll find that Wacom is still the industry standard.

I use one called Acteck, DiPen,AP-8000 it was not real expensive, it has lasted 2 years now, no problems, I like it , here in Mexico it was about $100.00 I imagen they are less in the U.S. from Garry http://www.garryspages.webs.com
