  I don't think it NEEDS to be learned, even if there is a such list as the "8 steps" (Sorry, I don't know them). Surely not. Just ask anyone what they like to see in a story, and you'll be on your way. My dad says a key point is the message it tells that makes it important. Think about that. You may not come up with an idea entirely original, but you can come up with an story thats told in a way different from any previous work, and impact the reader in such a way they'll love you even if they don't know you per se. Because you see, an artist's work is an reflection of their soul, though usually if you don't practice drawing enough or anything else, your ability slackens. Some people base their stories around a setting, or their characters, or the message they want to send. Pick the one you connect with the most. Umm... an important thing is to love the manga you make, so you can put all your heart and soul into it. : ) Rather than thinking of becoming famous, feed your lovechild your every thought. Constantly learn and consider things. Its great to have your own style, but do things in ways most comfortable to you. Don't let the thought of "being different" trouble you if you have good material to work with. And never lose your fun in creating the manga. But, um, this answer may not be what you're looking for. ^^; I don't mean to preach. -sigh- I thought you were looking for how to MAKE great manga, not how to DRAW it.
