What are some good fashion drawing books?

Good Manga Drawing Books?

• Well, I am going to be buy some drawing books and I love manga(shoujo, bishoujo, chibi etc.), so I was wondering what good books are there? I have so far: 500 manga creatures,Manga for the beginner:Chibis, Mangamania: Chibi and furry characters,Manga mania:Shoujo, and the complete book of drawing manga. Preferably not any of peter grays manga books or christopher harts please. I just want authentic manga books that have pictures of the characters(B&W is fine) and I don't care what language. Just preferably a japanese author, chinese author, korean author, or a really really good european author or american author. Thx!! P.S. it doesn't have to be a how 2 draw one, just one with manga pictures and stuff. Please not a very skinny book with like only 5 pages of pictures. It can be how to draw though. I want one with a lot of pictures by the way! :) Sry if this is very troublesome!!

  Well, if you're a beginner, it's probably better that you use how to draw books, otherwise you won't develope your own style; instead simply copying, and 'learning' yourself into a corner. If you learn manga correctly, you should be able to learn other styles, like realism or cartooning much easier, as it's a sort of middle-ground between the two. That's why it's important to do what the books say, and learn the right way. That statement can't be stressed enough. With all that said, you probably know by now the differences between a general artist writing a book on manga (where you can clearly see that they don't know the style, and are instead just copying the basic style), and one where the artist truly knows manga. My two favorite books are 'The Complete Idiots Guide To Drawing Manga', and 'Manga Mania: Romance'. Both of these books use a genuine manga style, and teach a lot about how to actually draw manga, rather than simply telling you what manga 'should' look like. Another one that's no doubt going to be great, is coming out on... March 4th I believe. It's done by Mark Crilley, who is definitely one of the few true American manga artists. I don't remember the name of the book, but if you look him up on Youtube (he does tutorial videos there), you'll find it. And don't worry, he's been doing art in general forever, but after spending quite a bit of his life in Japan, he adopted the manga style. He's very reputable.
