Do you have any tutorials on how to draw anime?

How do I draw "Chibi" anime?

  • At school, my friend (which is a girl) is really good at drawing chibi type anime and I really want to learn how. However, she won't teach me and says that I can't draw (which isn't completely true),I just don't know how to draw anime.I was wondering where some good tutorials are because all the ones I found weren't really helpful.I am mainly focused on learning facial features and hair.

  • Answer:

Chibi's may not be as strict as regular anime/ manga but there's still little things to follow. The entire chibi is three heads high. The body being two heads in height, and the head being (surprise) one head in height. The face follows the usual positioning of features but the eyes take up the entire space of where the tip of the nose should be. The facial features are kept fairly low, with the hair hanging to usually meet the eyes or just above them. The limbs are stumpy but prproportionalo the body. The face can have a nose, but usually not. If it's so, then it's very small and almost ununnoticeableThe mouth is usually very small and innocent, and in most cases hidden by an item of some sort to make the character more innocent. The eyes are always one eye's width apart, and when facing forward, half and eye's width from the edge of the head. It helps to browse around and watch some tutorials on either youtube or deviantart. I'd suggest deviantart as some of the tutorials on youtube are created by artists who believe their level of skill good enough to create a tututorial when they're not necessarily as up to scratch as they think. Just try experimenting and you'll find your own style methods :)

Well, my friend, it's quite simple, Chibi's have no nose, their head is considerably larger than their body which is considerably small. Their eyes take up 50% of the area on their face, their ears are to match the head ( don't make them look rediculously big), and looking on the internet for tutorials that's plain stupid and very unreliable, get your *** into a bookstore and look for some books on how to draw manga because some books, if you look properly, will touch on how to draw them.

There are a lot of various ways to draw chibi. It is best to make your own style. A large head and eyes followed with tiny under sized anatomy is the key to it. Minimal details! Heres a few of my favorite youtubers that draw chibi. http://www.youtube.com/user/Banzchan http://www.youtube.com/user/markcrilley It is really hard at first. I draw animeish style for a living and I still am not too fond of my chibi all the time but some are really cute~ Experiment. Maybe try a few on your own then show your friend. Maybe she will take interest more if she knows you are serious in learning, Have fun!
