How do I sell my design to a company?

How would you sell a character design to a company like Sanrio?

  Generally, you'll need to come up with a pitch describing why it's going to sell, who's going to buy and all that stuff. You need to be a "salesman". Then of course, you'll have to have a presentation showing your design. And they probably don't take unsolicited material. So it might help if you found some kind of an agent or you at the very least would probably have to sign a waver stating that if they rejected your design, then came out with something similar in the future, you wouldn't be able to slap a lawsuit on them.
