How to draw flames on walls?
-
My boys would like me to paint flames on the walls of their playroom. I'm looking for a website that shows simple flames to draw (mind you I CANT draw). I have looked at a lot of tatoo websites, but dont have the money to buy any of their pictures. Any suggestions?

Answer:
find out what types of flames style they're relating to , like car stripes, or cartoon, or as you mentioned tattoo, then go with that style, if possible, let them draw a sketch of how they want it to look, then you'll want to draw the outline first or they can do it, if you have access to an overhead projector, you could that to create a template, then you want matching colors of red, orange, and yellow, maybe brown or black and white if you try to give them 3d appearance, may be best to use acrylic type paint that cleans with water, and less fumes then oil, then with a set of brushes , paint each color's lines one at a time, let dry before next color, or if try to blend do portions of each color from one end to the points, have fun,☺ flames: http://i7.tinypic.com/282p4ww.jpg http://www.graffiti.org/nasty/flame.jpg http://mobile.banananetwork.com/media/graphics/14847.gif http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/1840177/2/istockphoto_1840177_motor_skull_stencil.jpg http://www.airtightgrafix.com/images/GhostFlameRealFlameHood.jpg http://www.lbgraphics.com/Custom%20Flames/Page.htm http://www.cyclespot.com/Harley_Apparel_Gifts/Temporary%20Tattoos/image/62163_flames_tattoo.jpg http://www.bikers-art.com/sitebuilder/images/Pic8-218x143.jpg ( you can use other sets of colors like blues or rainbow) ( there is the option of masking outlines with painters tape and spraying, but it means covering everything, could get messy) murals: http://www.uniqarts.com.sg/xhwall_after01.jpg http://www.wealddown.co.uk/images%20magazines/10%202000_joy_huning_wall_painting_reigate.jpg http://yorkcountyschools.org/ghs/Yorktown%20Wall/art%20-%20wall%20painting%20at%20yorktown%20025.jpg http://www.artinfo.co.il/modules/My_eGallery/gallery/wall/2new.jpg ..

Your children sound tormented. On a more serious note, I'm assuming they're small children, so I guess they won't mind if it doesn't turn out great. Just go for it!

You just need to make light orange wavy lines going upwards from the floor and tapering off as they reach the top (think pyramids, but with more flow). Then fill them in with a darker orange, leaving edges of lighter orange. Then fill them in with a red. This picture is pretty good reference for what I'm talking about: http://www.lettertech.com/images/2002HELMETS/2001%20FLAMES.jpg Just rotate it 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
