Who has any creative poster ideas?

Book report. I want to make a creative poster board. Ideas?

  • I have to read a memoir for my English class, and I am reading "In My Hand" By: Irene Gut Opdyke. I have half of a poster board left from when I used the other half for a previous project, and I would really like to use this other half for this project. So i would like to know any creative ideas that you might have about what I can do to my poster. It has to be creative and it has to tell about the story too, so if you have ANY ideas, please let me know. Or let me know about any poster board project you have done in the past that have worked out. Thank you very much, I appreciate it. :)

I'll give you some place to start, but the most important part of your project is to learn to be creative. I didn't know how to do that at first, so I will send you in a direction you can use for future creative projects. You can layer things from the book onto the board, especially if it explains the meaning of the title of the book, or some of the plot. You want to take chapters from the book and see if you can find a way to express them visually on your board. Is the story about a bird that becomes a woman when she flies into his window, and they eventually fall in love? You would find pictures of birds like the one in the story, then paint or collage it onto your board. What does the bird have to do to find the man? Does she see him in a park and follow him home? Find ways to show those scenes on your board. Since the bird follows him home, you would want to put his home on the board, with the bird near-by looking at it. You would add other scenes on your board until you have completed the board with the bird having changed into a woman with the man inside his house (scene through the window she flew in). When the bird was in the park she had a favorite pine tree to perch in. You could take some pine needles to frame or accentuate parts of the story. Get the idea? You can collage this board, or paint it, or mix it up to make it interesting. Go online and take a look at art and collages for inspiration. See how other artists have "told their tales" through their paintings, sculpture, or collages. I once had an assignment that required a story board of my entire life. The 18 year olds in class had no problem, but I was in my mid-50s and had a lot of story to tell. I put it together as 8 story boards fitted together so they would stand up on their own. The reader just had to walk around them to read each side. I had taken my family photos to a copy shop and had the older ones all done in black and white to look even older. I cut them up with paste-on lettering and had "newspaper headlines" telling the general story, and small "articles" about that story in my life. Go have fun with it.
