Can a person be a graphic designer without a graphic design degree?

Do you need a degree in Interior Design to become an interior designer?

  • I'm a junior in college studying digital media and film production however I've recently became extremely interested in interior designing. Since I'm already in my junior year, it would be difficult to swtich my major however I will consider it if it's necessary. But could I become an interior designer without a degree in it? Also, is it worth switching my major if I must? How is the job market, ect. Honest answers, please. Thanks!

Being one? No, Interior decorators just need to convince people to pay them money for something most people do themselves. It's about your personal contacts, networking skills, and how well you sell your claim to have taste. Getting hired as one by an established service? Yes. They basically want to not have to train someone from the ground up.

At this point, I don't think you should change majors. There are some schools that offer courses in interior design that may be fairly affordable. I know Penn Foster offers an interior design course that may be what you are looking for: http://www.technical-schools-guide.com/school_information.php?FormID=2232&SchoolID=326&ContentID=1226&OrganizationID=194&LocationID=561&DMAID=484&aid=1636
