Is graffiti good or is it bad?

Pros and cons. a) Graffiti is public artistic expression. It is put up voluntarily and unpaid and at risk from law enforcement. It is "Free art" in the purest sense, and good graffiti can enrich communities. b) Taggers simply want to be famous on the streets and be able to take pride in tagging the highest, most dangerous spots, or the most places. They are not strict "artists", since they repeat the same calligraphic work over and over. c) Most graffiti is just really bad cliche stuff that's more destructive than constructive. It really depends on the context of the piece. Public property should be the place for public art, and most graffiti is only found on public property. It's against graffiti ethics (See Stencilrevolution.com) to deface private property. However, many still disagree that no matter how good the work is, it "Shouldn't be there" because it's illegal.

Okay, there's like two different kinds of graffiti. You have taggers, who just put like a name or a group or something, and then you have graffiti artists who draw pictures, murals, actually draw beautiful things. Not just their names in bubble letters. Though those people could become graffiti artist as well. But i think graffiti is good. Even if it is illegal. Borders actually has books on graffiti, from graffiti in streets to female graffit artists. check them out. and then decide if graffiti is good or bad.

My personal opinion: Graffiti, no matter how much people wish it wasn't, IS considered a way of expressing emotions even unintentionally, so therefore, it is a form of art. Even though it is considered very bad and is illegal, it is the same thing as painting a mural on a wall, just without permission. What I'm supposed to think: Graffiti is illegal and very wrong. Whoever does it should be killed (over exaggeration much...)

it is cool and everything but it is bad to do it on other peoples property because it is vandalism and that's illegal but you can do it on your own property. I think that it looks cool because it is art though.

it's good when done on a good intent. anything else is damage to personal property
