Answer:
Nick, Please email me through my profile to tell me what GCSE is. I see it often here, but never ran into it while I was in school. I'd like to understand it. Okay, for inspiration you must look inside. One reason for that is that what inspires me may leave you dead flat bored! But looking for inspiration is the main job of any artist. In my quest to find it, I asked my professors lots of questions. Most just told me I have to find it for myself. So I did. My process is to look through art images -just in general. I'm not looking for something to copy; I'm looking for styles I love. When I find things I like it inspires the artistic spirit within me. Not to do anything similar. Somehow, what I see that I connect with most strongly begins a quick boil inside. My own narrative begins to "speak out". It might make me want to do a particular style of my own work, or something I've been considering. The "viewing" of other artists work, and their stories, will remind me of a piece I've been thinking of doing for a while, but have been too busy to get started with it. I keep an "Idea File" of my creative ideas, drawings for work I want to do. I will search it the same way I search for work to inspire me by other artists. Next, I take the synthesis of my momentary inspiration and something from my own books and begin to set up my next work. Art inspires art. Ask yourself: "What are my favorite things to draw?" Start your list. Add in anything you are drawn too, not just things you are already good at doing. Put down conceptual ideas, too, not just solid "things" you can draw. Look back over work or classes you've taken before. Was there an assignment, or a project that really caught your imagination or was just so fun to do? Add those to your list. You should have quite a list of things by now. Look back over them and choose one. There's your project!
